I Ain't Afraid Of No Ghosts
I find it amusing that paranormal investigators go to such extremes to make the science of paranormal research an accepted form of study by using cutting edge technology and devices, then when the homeowner asks for the ghost to be removed from their house, those same researchers call in a man with a cross and some water to walk around blessing the house and casting out the entity. The whole credibility of the investigation just flies right out the window at that point, in my opinion. It seems so much effort has been put behind finding and revealing paranormal activity, that no thought whatsoever has gone into killing them. So here I will give my educated opinion on how such a task would have to be approached, and there are no crosses or holy water involved.
The science of the paranormal has come a long way in recent years, but one theory has always remained the same, ghosts are made up from a collection of energy. To put it simply, if one cannot see or touch something, then it is not made of matter, therefore common sense says it must be a collection of energy - I agree. Paranormal researchers have had great success in using EMF detectors, and similar devices, in locating ghostly activity. That only backs up the energy theory. So how do we "kill" energy? Well, to be scientific again, energy cannot be destroyed, only displaced. So then the question is, how do we displace a ghost, in essence, killing it? The answer would be the same as any other form of energy, we introduce a negative energy source. Since the researchers tend to sway towards the electromagnetic energy as the source of the entity, I will use that as the basis of my own theory. So here it goes, my theory on how to kill a ghost: - High EMF generator - of the Tesla variety to be on the safe side.
- The problem with this theory is that it may have the opposite effect. Paranormal researchers claim that ghosts feed off of energy, and this may just add fuel to the fire. But there is also the option to reverse polarities which should cause the opposite effect.
- Magnetism.
- Strong magnets, or electromagnets, can be placed around the area of activity. Again, this may have undesired effects as well, as it may only serve to attract paranormal activity to a localized area, rather than destroying it. But as with the EMF generator, the polarities can be reversed.
- EMP - Electromagnetic Pulse.
- This seems to be the most logical answer to killing a ghost made of electromagnetic energy. The problem with this method is you can kiss all of your expensive equipment goodbye, not to mention you will need a power source close to that of an atomic bomb to get any measurable results. And furthermore, if you do manage to create a EMP of measurable magnitude, you may end up pissing off the neighbors as all their electrical equipment become nothing more than paper weights.
So that concludes my theory on how a ghost can be "killed". They are the only methods that make any sense in a field of study that is still in it's infancy, but I would call it a small step forward if some actual practice of these theories were tested on the field.
I call on any, and all paranormal researchers out there who strive so hard to be accepted in the scientific community, then turn to a priest when it comes time to remove an entity, to stop and think about the dual message you are sending to the skeptics who continue to laugh at every attempt you make towards acceptance. You have a choice, you can either be 100% scientific and get laughed at with your head held high, or you can go the other route of which you may as well just quit while you are ahead.

I do know for a fact that an EMP will "kill" any form of EMF energy, so I'll stick with that theory... But I don't believe that a device small enough to carry is even feasible with today's technology... Maybe in a few years or decades it will be...
